About Us
We are not “the forgotten hi-fi company”: nobody has ever heard of us!
That’s not quite true: we have a growing band of satisfied owners in the UK, Europe and North America. At the time of writing, we are working with Hong Kong’s most respected audio distributor to introduce our equipment into Asia. The hi-fi press in UK and Europe has reviewed 8 of our 10 models over the years and each one has received glowing reviews.
Renaissance Amplification hi-fi products are designed and manufactured in the UK by Integrated Engineering Solutions Ltd (IES, for short).
IES was founded in 1996 by electronics engineer, Chris Jennings and ex-IBM engineer, Greg Speirs. The original aim of the company was to build valve amplifiers for hi-fi use but this goal was soon subverted by a request from Hewlett Packard to design and build data cable measurement systems, a field in which IES remains a leader. Technical contracts from other companies followed and IES recruited extra staff. As well as developing our own products, we offer design and low-volume manufacturing as a service in a number of areas including radio frequency instrumentation, precision analogue electronics, data acquisition and novel applications for acoustics.
In 2000, Chris resurrected the valve amplifier project and created a new, high-end design which, in the following year, became the critically acclaimed RA-01 mono power amplifier, our first hi-fi product.
In common with the RA-01, all Renaissance Amplification products are designed to be practical, reliable and easy to use whilst providing exceptional performance. We want you to hear the music and not the equipment. As a very small company we compete on quality rather than quantity. New products are created only when we are confident that they will have something special to offer at their price point. From the technical point of view, all of our hi-fi products have an interesting story to tell but the whole point is to increase your listening pleasure by making music playback as realistic as we can.
